Spicy and regular version coming right up!! What type of person are you? Are you into the spicy Chick-fil-A sandwich or not? Of course I recreated it, because copycat Chick-fil-A is just what I do! Now, there is no need to wait in the drive-thru for an hour or crave it on a Sunday! I got you covered.
Ingredients
Let's go over some ingredients!
- Chicken Cutlet
- Milk
- Pickle Juice
- Powdered Sugar
- Seasonings
Boneless, skinless chicken breast cutlet is my favorite. It is lean, delicious and already the perfect size for your sandwich. However, you can use a chicken breast and slice it in half.
Did you know that Chick-fil-A actually brines their chicken in pickle juice. That is what we are going to do for our Copycat Chick fil A grilled sandwich recipe! I get it, I am not the biggest pickle fan either; however, this step is essential. It does not have an overly pickle flavor, just really a hint, and only if you are really looking for it.
I, also, get this question a ton: where do you get pickle juice? Well, from a jar of dill pickles!! Just pour some out from your favorite jar of pickles and you have your pickle juice.
Now, this is a hot topic as well... milk. Personally, I use plain unsweetened almond milk for just about everything. However, you can use another type of milk. I love almond milk because it is light and lasts longer in the fridge. However, I know people do not prefer it or have allergies; therefore, pick your favorite milk. But, the specific milk does not matter too much.

But, if you want to make this sandwich spicy, you will need to add in some hot sauce and ground red pepper.
How to Make a Copycat Chick-fil-A Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Marinate - In a large bowl, combine pickle juice and milk. Add chicken, then, cover and allow to marinate in fridge for at least 30 minutes or up to all day (8 hours). If you are doing a spicy sandwich, also add the hot sauce in with the milk.
Dry and Season - Once ready, strain chicken from the marinate and pat dry, slightly, with a paper towel.
Cook - Get your grill ready and heated. Add chicken to the grill and sprinkle with the seasonings. Grill chicken on both sides until thoroughly cooked. (Please note that grilling times vary widely).
This recipe is also great in the air fryer. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees. Place chicken in a greased air fryer and air fry for about 14 minutes, flipping and spraying with cooking spray halfway.
Plus, you can cook the chicken in the oven as well. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Bake on a greased baking tray for 16 minutes, or until fully cooked. Flip and spray the chicken with cooking spray halfway.
Be sure to have the chicken reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
Recommended Toppings
These grilled chicken breasts are great with just your classic Chick-fil-A pickles. However, you can spice up your sandwich with some lettuce or tomato. You can make this into a grilled chicken club sandwich by adding cheese and bacon. I get this all the time!
Tips and Tricks
Marinating the chicken for at least 30 minutes allows for the flavors to penetrate the. meat. However, if you are low on time, marinate for as long as you can.
